Bio by Tahir Shah: Leon is a veteran filmmaker, the kind of man who would go to any lengths to get the film in the can. To him documentaries are just that, they are documents of something that happened, and not an opportunity to create a fiction of some kind. I was struck by his ability to endure hardship as well, or better, than anyone else, as I was struck by his sensibleness.
His marathon expeditions to Afghanistan had taught him many things: to continue working in the dreadful conditions, to thrive in the face of all obstacles, and to enjoy the incongruities which travel provides.
