story & synopsis

Best selling author Jason Webster decided to leave England and move to a farm in the mountains of Valencia. Without knowing much about the local area or how to run a farm, Jason and his wife, Salud, quickly had to adapt to spanish farm life and pick up 'basic survival skills' in order to maintain the farm. Dealing with everyhing from forest fires to having his roof blown off, Jason learns to love the spanish culture and tradition and decides to write a book about the experience and about the ancient culture and history that the sierra holds.

This is a promotional video for the book, and it was shot during three different trips that David made to Valencia. The trips were timed with the seasonal fiestas in the local area, which include the running of the fire-bulls, the pilgrimage and San Antonio festival.

fiestas

In the local area there are three main fiestas that mark the farmers callendar; San Antonio in mid February, which represents fertility and the coming of light, San Mikiel in June, where people pray for rain and the running of the bulls in September. These traditional ceremonies are anciant but are still a major part of everyday life in the area around the farm.
