Caravan Film is a London based independent film production company. We shoot documentaries for British Television as well as feature films for the international market. We often work closely with writers and screenwriters to develop scripts and stories, as well as writing and developing our own scripts. We shoot on many formats, including video, DV, HDV s16mm and 35mm film stock. We also enjoy the post production process where we have strong skills in motion graphics, CGI and advanced grading. We have a wide base of freelancers that we bring in regularly, ranging from production assistants, photographers and researchers to animators, motion graphic designers, drawing artists and storyboard artists. Work for our freelancers varies between commissioned creative projects, in house project development or corporate films that we produce.

story & synopsis

Travel writer and explorer, Tahir Shah heads off to Afghanistan on a quest to find the hidden treasure of Ahmad Shah Durrani, the world's largest treasure estimated at over $500 billion in today's currency. Following the clues in a notebook, left by his ancestors, he teams up with a young Afghan archeologist and attempts to solve the mystery of the gold of Ahmad Shah.

The feature length version of this doc is being edited at the moment, attempting to show more of the adventures filmed during three trips to Afghanistan between 2005/6. This film will also show material of Leon's original journey through Afghanistan and his time spent with the Mujahedin near Herat in 1986, during the Soviet occupation of the country. The unlawful imprisonment of the crew while travelling through Pakistan will be used as a framework for telling the story. Read more about this arrest below.

During a recci trip for "Afghan Gold", David, Leon and Tahir were arrested in Peshawar, Pakistan. Handcuffed adnd blindfolded. While refused any contact with embassies or families, they were held without charge in solitary confinement in a torture prison for 16 days.
